This is a big step in utilising knowledge how intelligence works to construct Real (not Artifical) Intelligence, but equally important is that this (combined with human augmentation) definitely leads a path, to human brain direct control of machines.
Actually what you described would still be considered a cyborg. An android is a robot that is in human or animal form. A good example of an android is C3PO from Star Wars. A cyborg is a mechanical entity that had organic components. Examples are Robocop, Terminator, or the replicants from Blade Runner. Technically people who have lost limbs and are using computerized prosthetics can be called cyborgs.
You’re right. I got the notion, that only a human with implanted mechanics is a Cyborg, but actually any cybernetic organizm is a cyborg.
