Emmanuel Bretelle informed me, that he created the jabberd2 targetted mu-conference package for Ubuntu Intrepid. It’s available at his PPA.
apt-get install jabberd2-muc
Installation instructions are available at Debuntu.org.
I mirrored the PPA to Xiaoka APT Repository, so if you have set it up, yo do not need to touch sources.list.
